Engagement with the new Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber

Last January, the HCV Network, represented by Arie Soetjiadi was part of the first GPSNR workshop in Singapore!

Arie Soetjiadi, our Southeast Asia Representative, participated in the first GPSNR workshop of 2019, which was held in Singapore in January.

The Tire Industry Project (TIP) members are working to transform the natural rubber supply chain for the better with the launch of the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR).

GPSNR operates under the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Tire Industry Project but will soon become a new organisation. Workshop participants included many prominent rubber growers, car makers, tire makers, and civil society organisations as well as academic/research institutions. The first General Assembly is scheduled to be held in March 2019 in Singapore and the founding members from each membership category will vote on the organisation’s new governance structure. Representation of smallholders in the platform is acknowledged as one of the priority topic.  A dedicated smallholder working group will be formed and more smallholders are expected to enroll as members by March 2020.
