Management Committee meets in Kota Kinabalu

The HCV Network Management Committee met in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, in November 2018.

Several Management Committee members were in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, attending the annual conference of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). We took this opportunity to meet in person and discuss the following:

  • HCV Assessor Licensing Scheme (ALS): The ALS Quality Manager presented an update on report evaluations and presented an overview of the most common challenges with HCV assessment reports;
  • Upcoming challenges with the publication of the new RSPO Principles and Criteria: The Management Committee welcomed the inclusion of the HCS Approach into the new RSPO Principles and Criteria and highlighted the importance of collaborating closely with the HCS Approach Secretariat and the RSPO Secretariat to ensure the smooth implementation of P&C Annex 5 provisions, which will require substantial investment into capacity building of Licensed Assessors, companies, and Certification Bodies and Auditors;
  • Communications: The Secretariat introduced the new HCV Network website, which includes a new dashboard to keep track of report evaluation progress.
